Frequently Asked Questions
General use
What surfaces can pogaBot clean?
pogaBot is designed to clean most hard floors and carpets, but it is not suitable for deep-pile carpets. In addition to low- and medium-pile carpets, pogaBot is perfect for cleaning hardwood floors, tiles, plastic and linoleum surfaces, and will even clean tables and worktops – without falling off!
Can I use pogaBot on a wet floor?
pogaBot Intelligent Vacuum Cleaning Robots can safely be used on wet surfaces, but they may operate more slowly – and some types of debris may remain stuck to the floor. The pogaBot Mop and Polish Robot cleans wet surfaces, but is not useful for cleaning up large amounts of water or other spills.
How much maintenance does pogaBot need?
In addition to battery recharging, in normal use pogaBot needs only minimal maintenance. For the pogaBot Intelligent Vacuum Cleaning Robots, the particle bin needs emptying regularly (this can be done with one hand) and the filter mesh needs cleaning. From time to time larger objects and longer hairs caught in the brushes may need to be removed. The pogaBot Mop and Polish Robot cloths need to be washed after heavy use, and the side brushes on the pogaBot Vacuum Cleaning Robots must be replaced if worn.
What happens if pogaBot gets stuck under furniture?
If pogaBot cannot move further under a piece of furniture it will try to back out and continue cleaning elsewhere. If your pogaBot Robot gets stuck and cannot move even backwards, it will switch off after 15 seconds and needs to be rescued. Replace pogaBot on the ground and restart it, and take steps to prevent pogaBot from going under this item of furniture again, for example, by using the Virtual Wall.
Can my children use pogaBot?
pogaBot Intelligent Robots are fun and practical, but they are not toys and should be treated with care. Your children can safely play around pogaBot (it can’t harm them more than a personal stereo) but pogaBot must not be kicked, hit, stepped on or thrown! We would encourage parents to show their children how the pogaBot works, as they will grow up to use robots in their everyday lives!
What if my finger gets caught in the brushes?
pogaBot Intelligent Robots operate very close to the floor, so it is impossible for your fingers to get caught in the brushes. Also, if you pick up your pogaBot it will stop working immediately.
Breakdowns/malfunctions
pogaBot Intelligent Robots are designed to last a long time and work well for many years, but sometimes, as with any machine, something may go wrong. Before sending your pogaBot for service, please check through the common questions and problems, and try the suggested solutions.
THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS ARE FOR pogaBot ROBOTS IN GENERAL. SEE BELOW FOR THE VIRTUAL WALL AND THE DOCKING STATION FOR mv200d.
If your pogaBot isn’t working at all
Please make sure that the battery is charged and correctly installed. Remember that pogaBot automatically switches off if it is picked up, laid on its side, or if it gets stuck under low furniture.
I cannot charge the battery. Why not?
(For charging with the docking station (mv200d only) please see below.) Ensure the battery is correctly installed (two clicks). After a certain period of use, the battery needs to be replaced, just like any other battery.
What to do if my pogaBot stops operating while cleaning and all indicators are on?
Check that there is nothing stuck in the moving parts (brushes, wheels) on the bottom of the pogaBot. Empty the particle bin if necessary.
If your pogaBot isn’t working properly
Please remember that the particle bin must be emptied regularly, and the filter mesh and the brushes may need to be cleaned as necessary (this is especially important if there are large amounts of long pet or human hairs). See the instruction manual for details.
My pogaBot stays in one place, going round and round. What should I do?
Switch off the Robot and check that there is nothing blocking one of the wheels, and make sure the sensors are clean. Replace pogaBot on the ground and restart.
My pogaBot sometimes falls off the edge of the stairs. What can I do?
Probably the sensors are dirty or dusty. Wipe the sensors clean using a dry cloth. If pogaBot falls a long distance, check that the battery and other parts are in place before restarting the Robot.
Virtual Wall
SAFETY FIRST! Never allow the Virtual Wall infrared signal to shine directly into anybody’s eyes!
The green indicator is flashing. What does this mean?
You need to change the battery in the Virtual Wall. The Virtual Wall works with two R20 (Size D) type batteries.
The Virtual Wall does not stop the pogaBot? Why not?
Make sure that the Virtual Wall is properly placed and that you have selected the right range for the infrared signal. Check the battery strength.
pogaBot mv200d re-charging docking station
What should I do if the battery cannot be recharged?
First check that the battery is correctly installed (two audible clicks when installing). Then make sure that the contacts on the docking station and on the pogaBot Robot are clean. If charging is not possible from the docking station, use the charger to charge the battery directly.
My pogaBot cannot find its way back to the docking station. Why not?
The docking station emits an infrared signal, and the pogaBot Robot can only return to the station if it can detect the signal. Check that the docking station power supply is on, and switch off the Virtual Wall (if it is on) because the signal from the Virtual Wall may affect the pogaBot’s ability to return to its docking station. In large rooms it is possible that the pogaBot Robot cannot find its way back, so try a different place for the docking station with no obstacles in front of it which may stop the signal (the docking station can still be placed under furniture such as a sofa or a wall unit, as long as there is a high enough gap for pogaBot to fit under it.
What should I do if pogaBot does not do the cleaning as programmed?
Please check the power supply. In the event of a power failure the settings may be lost and the cleaning schedule must be re-programmed.
